I prayed for the rain
warm strong cleansing
heavensent stinging
all consuming and whole
cover my soul
and drown my very mind
numbing sound
washing away the voices
of all those who cannot understand
all those who choose not to
I prayed for the rain
to bring forth total change
remove from me the dirt
of living without
and turning me within
it came with a vengeance
taking from me all that was
and showing me myself
and all that I am......
I prayed for the rain,
and though I may receive what I wish for
I am afraid that sometimes
I get more than I bargained for
